The Problem With The New Christian- Is They Forget They Are Sinners…Sorry About Those Manners!

Dr. James Dobson once said it might be good if new Christians were locked up for a year with their bibles. He is correct. I feel bad for the victims of the ” new believer”.  Their family and friends may notice a spring in their step or unexplained sense of  happiness (joy) . However they have a tendency to forget one important fact.

They Accepted Christ , they did not become  Christ…

Imagine we are all lined up on the front end of a long pier that spans a good ways out over the ocean. The idea is the better person we are in God’s eyes, the further we can jump off the end. The top 3 are walking around all proud – saying how many more yards they jumped then the others.

Out of nowhere , an angel appears and announces that to meet  criteria for  “good” by God’s measure , you would have to had to  jumped to the other side of the ocean!

” What” they proclaimed? “That means that we aren’t any better than those guys!

“Correct” said the angel

The truth is, none of us is better than anyone else. We cannot earn our way to God because we are all sinners.

I pity the fool who thinks otherwise.

*I also pity the fool who has to be locked in a room with a new Christian for more than 5  but hey don’t let some silly Christian run you away from God!

I feel that the combination of formal training and life experience allows us to meet those we help every point of need- in a real way.

  1. lol, very accurate description of the situation. The sad thing is that many people have in one way been stigmatized by the aggressive energy of the ‘new Christians’ and even old over zealous ones. I did enjoy this post a lot. You did a good one with this, cheerio

  2. You hit the nail on the head! When I pastored my first church, I remember rebuking long time “believers” for pouring cold water on those who just gave their life to Christ. I told them to stay away if they were going to be sour.
